Transhumanist Avatars Storm Second Life - in the vein of yesterday’s pieces on cyberspace and the metaverse, here’s an article about a tranhsumanist conference taking place within the virtual reality of second life; it doesn’t get much more cyberspace than that!
Second Life is an online world that enables users, called Residents, to interact with each other through avatars. Residents can explore the world (known as the grid), meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade virtual property and services with one another.
In this particular case, some 80 transhumanist avatars gathered in the virtual world of Second Life for a community event organized by Humanity+ Magazine. The invitation for the event said:
Join us in Second Life to brainstorm how to move forward together! Our upcoming event is for our members and friends, and will focus on the intersection of leadership and the future.
