Contact Lens Display - Wearable computing just got a serious boost with the development of a contact lens display. Yip, that is what you think it is: a digital display embedded in a contact lens, allowing for overlaying images on your vision in real-time. The lens interface requires no wires, and they have been successfully tested on rabbits. In addition to providing augmented reality by providing information to the user queued by his/her environment, the lenses can also gather data from the wearer and provide feedback to the supporting electronics.
Prior work has demonstrated different types of contact lens functionalization. Contact lens mounted biosensors have been developed to measure eye movement, tear glucose concentration, corneal temperature, blood oxygen and intraocular pressure.
