Bombardier Project Eco Train - It may look like a space-toaster, but it really is one of the most advanced trains ever designed. Not because it is the fastest, but because by clever use of advanced technology it manages to maintain a zero carbon footprint. Imagine a mega-city like Los Angeles replacing its 5.5 million cars with a system of trains like this one, and you start to understand just how big a deal this is.

Francisco Lupin, an Argentinian industrial designer, created an ecological, ergonomic, and economically efficient design for the Bombardier train competition. Though designed in bright red, Lupin’s clean energy concept is as green as it gets. Solar energy is what gets the motors going on the Eco Train.  These motors are electromagnetic and they are responsible for propulsion and levitation of the train on rails. The method is faster, quieter, and smoother than mass transportation on wheels.
